What if my player's winter activities overlap indoor practices? It is ok to begin with your team in the spring or attend the indoor practices that fit your players schedule.
What equipment will my player need? Players need clean/dry gym shoes for indoor practices, cleats for the fields, glove, bat (see league rules for specifics), pants or knickers, socks, belt and a helmet. Softball player also require a facemask. Baseball: black pants or knickers/black socks/black belt Softball: black pants or knickers/purple socks/purple belt
What does player fees include? Fees cover indoor and outdoor practice expenses, player insurance, game play and end of year tournament expenses, player jersey and hat (hat for baseball only).
Do you offer a fall league? The Twin River League does not have a fall league. With enough interest we can enter our teams into other Summer and Fall leagues in the Des Moines area. Entry fees into Summer/Fall leagues would be split among players.
Do you have tournament teams? We don't have any official tournament teams but can enter our teams or any group of players into tournaments if interest. Entry fees would be split among players.
When is registration open? Registration opens late October and ends January 31st. Indoor clinics may begin before registration closes but your player can join in anytime once registered.
What if a team does not come together at my players age level? Often players can play up or be shuffled around to complete teams. In the event a team does not come together you will receive a full refund and be notified with enough time to still meet other programs registration deadlines. Unfortunately for 7th & 8th grade baseball it may be more difficult to move players around as these teams do not play in the Twin Rives League but are registered into 13U/14U league play in the Des Moines area and will want to be competitive against teams made up of same age players.
What does the Pee Wee program look like? Pee Wee indoor practices start in February and are held once per week based on when we can get indoor space. Outdoor practices begin near the end of March at McAninch Sports Complex in Norwalk and are held twice per week. Game play begins mid-April and goes through May. There are four to five Saturdays they play against other Pee Wee teams in the league. On those Saturday’s they will play two games in either Norwalk, Truro, St Marys, Winterset, Churchville or Milo. Once weekend games have started, Pee Wee teams continue to have a practice or scrimmage against each other (depending on how many teams we have) one time per week on weekday evenings. Pee Wee teams are coach pitch and volunteer coaches are needed.
How many players on each team? Ideally, each team will have 10-11 players.
Can siblings be on the same team? Yes, siblings will be placed on the same team if they are playing in the same division.
When will my player's end of season tournament be? Typically the Pee Wee tournament is held the 1st weekend after Labor Day, Minors the following weekend and Majors the weekend after that.
